Good News for Nashik: Final Leg of Samruddhi Mahamarg Set to Open, Transforming Maharashtra’s Connectivity

Travel between Mumbai, Pune, and Nashik is about to become faster and more convenient, thanks to the near-completion of two crucial infrastructure projects. The final 76-kilometre stretch of the Samruddhi Mahamarg, connecting Igatpuri to Amane (near Bhiwandi), is set to open to the public within days. Simultaneously, the Mumbai-Pune Missing Link project is also nearing its final stages and is expected to open by August.

Once this stretch of the Samruddhi Expressway is operational, commuters will be able to travel directly between Mumbai, Nashik, Aurangabad, and Nagpur—completely bypassing the traditionally congested Kasara Ghat. Currently, travellers must switch from the old Mumbai-Nashik highway to access the expressway at Igatpuri. With the completion of the final link, a seamless, high-speed corridor will emerge, dramatically reducing travel times and enhancing road safety.

Stretching over 701 kilometres, the Samruddhi Mahamarg connects Nagpur to Mumbai, cutting travel time while boosting economic and commercial connectivity across central and western Maharashtra. Final safety installations—such as crash barriers and signboards—are now being completed, with the full opening anticipated by mid-to-late March.
