SUMMARY
Reliance Life Sciences (RLS), a biotechnology firm wholly owned by the investment entities of Mukesh Ambani, is expanding its footprint with a new 160-acre campus in Dindori, about an hour from Nashik. This development marks a significant addition to its existing 20-acre facility in Navi Mumbai. The first phase of the Dindori campus, with an investment outlay of ₹4,400 crore (half allocated to Phase I), is expected to be completed within a year.
Founded in 2001, RLS has steadily evolved into a fully integrated player in the biotech space, focusing on research and manufacturing. Today, it boasts a portfolio of 43 products and a workforce of 1,300. In FY23, the company reported revenues of approximately ₹2,400 crore.
RLS operates primarily in the domain of medical biotechnology, offering products and services that cater to critical and intensive care in hospitals—medicines not typically found in pharmacies. Key offerings include clot-busters like Reteplase and essential treatments like albumin for trauma and liver conditions.
The new Dindori facility will serve as a large-scale commercial manufacturing hub for plasma proteins, biosimilars, small molecule oncology products, and vaccines. Phase II will expand into cutting-edge therapies such as gene therapy and mRNA-based treatments. With the biopharmaceutical sector growing at 25% annually, the company is positioning itself to meet rising demand and scale production accordingly.
Over the past five years, RLS has recorded a 25% compound annual growth rate in revenues, while EBITDA has surged by 42%, reflecting the company’s strong operational and financial momentum.
