The Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), one of India's largest and most trusted energy companies, has announced an investment of ₹500 crore to establish a state-of-the-art cryogenic tank manufacturing plant. This strategic initiative underscores IOCL’s commitment to strengthening the nation's energy infrastructure and supporting the growing demand for advanced storage and transportation solutions for liquefied gases, including LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas).

Cryogenic tanks are critical for the safe storage and transport of gases at extremely low temperatures, and the new facility will play a vital role in enhancing India's self-reliance in this domain. The plant will be equipped with cutting-edge technology to design and manufacture high-capacity tanks that meet global quality and safety standards.

This investment aligns with IOCL’s broader vision to expand its footprint in the clean energy segment and boost domestic manufacturing capabilities under the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate employment opportunities, contribute to local economic development, and reduce dependency on imports of cryogenic equipment.

The proposed plant is also a strategic step towards supporting India’s transition to a gas-based economy by enabling more efficient storage and distribution of LNG, which is seen as a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to conventional fossil fuels.
